Marco Minniti

Chairman, Med-Or Leonardo Foundation; f. Minister of Interior & Secretary to the Prime Minister for Intelligence Services, Italy

Marco Minniti is the Chairman of the Med‑Or Italian Foundation, a foundation created by Leonardo to promote strategic dialogue and partnerships across the Mediterranean, Africa, the Middle East and the East. He previously served as Italy’s Minister of the Interior and as Secretary to the Prime Minister with responsibility for intelligence services. He is a recognised expert in national security, migration policy, and Mediterranean geopolitics.

A distinguished Italian statesman, Minniti served as Minister of the Interior from December 2016 to June 2018 in the government of Paolo Gentiloni, where he was a key figure in managing migration policy and national security. Earlier in his career, he held senior security roles including Under-Secretary to the Prime Minister with responsibility for intelligence services under multiple administrations, Deputy Minister of the Interior, and Under-Secretary for Defence.

Minniti’s parliamentary career spanned 2001–2021, including terms in both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. After resigning from Parliament in 2021 to lead Med-Or, he has focused on strategic cooperation between Europe and the broader Mediterranean region, particularly on security, industrial diplomacy, and regional stability.
