Fabrice Leggeri is a Member of the European Parliament and former Executive Director of FRONTEX. He led the agency through its most significant transformation into a uniformed corps. An ENA graduate, he is a leading expert on border security, migration, and the future of the Schengen Area.
A senior French civil servant and politician, Leggeri served as Executive Director of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency from 2015 to 2022. During his tenure, he oversaw FRONTEX’s expansion into the European Union’s first uniformed service with its own standing corps and led the agency through the peak of the Mediterranean migration crisis, with a strong focus on strengthening the EU’s external borders and enhancing operational cooperation among member states.
A graduate of the prestigious École Nationale d’Administration, he previously held several high-level positions within the French Ministry of the Interior. Today, as a Member of the European Parliament, he continues to work on issues of European security, sovereignty, integrated border management, and the strategic future of the Schengen Area.
