Sinan Ciddi

Senior Fellow, Foundation for Defense of Democracies

Sinan Ciddi is a leading voice on Turkish domestic politics and foreign policy, with over two decades of research under his belt. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), where he directs the Turkey Program and the Center on Military and Political Power.

Beyond his think tank leadership, Sinan shapes the next generation of analysts as an Associate Professor at Marine Corps University and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University. His expertise is frequently sought by global media outlets like the BBC, CNN International, and France 24, and his insights have appeared in top-tier publications ranging from Foreign Policy to Politico.

A scholar at heart, he holds a Ph.D. from SOAS, University of London, and is the author of Kemalism in Turkish Politics (Routledge, 2009), a definitive look at the challenges facing Turkey’s main opposition party.
