He joined the Hellenic Navy in 1979 and attended the Naval Academy from 1979 to 1983, graduating as an Ensign. He served for seventeen years aboard various warships, including Destroyers, Frigates, and Fast Attack Crafts. He served as the commanding officer of six warships. For three years, he served as Head of the Personnel Branch at the SRIKFORNATO Headquarters in Naples, Italy. He commanded the 1st Fast Patrol Boat Squadron, the Fast Patrol Boat Command, and the Frigate Command. He also served at the Fleet Headquarters as Director of Operations, Director of the Directorate of Operational Evaluation, Chief of Staff, and Deputy Chief of the Fleet. In addition, he served as Commandant of the National Defense College.

From January 2017 to January 2020, he served as Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff. He is a graduate of the Hellenic Naval War College and the Hellenic Naval Staff College.

Following his retirement from active military service, he works as Chairman of the Board of Directors of TRIDENT CARS S.A. and as Senior Consultant at MARITIME TECHNOLOGY INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS S.A. He also serves as Vice President of the Hellenic Maritime Museum.
